Delhi Police have sprung into action following the alleged assault on Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal at the residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The accused, CM's Personal Secretary Vibhav Kumar, has been arrested following Maliwal's complaint. Post-interrogation at Civil Lines Police Station, police might present him before the court. On the other hand, Kumar's bail petition has been rejected by the court, denying him relief from Additional Sessions Judge Sushil Anuj Tyagi's court. Maliwal had registered a case against Vibhav on the evening of May 16.

After Aam Aadmi Party MP Swati Maliwal filed a complaint with Delhi Police, PS to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Vibhav Kumar, has been arrested. It is alleged that Vibhav brutally assaulted Swati. But the burning question is why Vibhav committed such an act with Swati? What could possibly be the motive behind it? Indeed, what truly happened at CM's house that day?

What exactly happened at Kejriwal's house on the morning of May 13?

To answer all these questions, let's first understand what exactly happened at CM's house on the morning of May 13? According to the FIR lodged by Swati, she had gone to meet CM Arvind Kejriwal early that morning. She first went to the CM's camp office. After that, she called Vibhav Kumar's mobile number, but couldn't get through. She also sent a WhatsApp message on Vibhav's mobile number, but received no response. Since Vibhav was not present there, she then entered the CM house through the main door, as she usually does.

She was asked to sit in the drawing room and was informed that the Chief Minister was present in the house and would come to meet her soon. But before the CM could get to her, Vibhav Kumar barged into the room with a shove and started verbally abusing her without provocation. He not only attacked her verbally but also started physical assault. He slapped her continuously 7-8 times, causing her to panic and scream for help. She somehow tried to push Vibhav away with her feet.

After that, Vibhav Kumar pounced on her again and started dragging her. He deliberately lifted her shirt upwards, causing the buttons to come undone. Swati fell to the floor, her head hitting the center table of the drawing room. She was screaming for help, but there was no one to aid her. Vibhav kicked Swati in the chest, abdomen, and lower abdomen area. According to Swati, the physical assault caused her excruciating pain, and she kept asking Vibhav to stop, but he was relentless.

What did Swati tell the Delhi Police on call 112?

Swati, after managing to free herself from Vibhav's clutches, picked up her fallen glasses and sat on the sofa, calling the Delhi Police on 112 from there to report the incident. But Vibhav threatened to kill her. As soon as he noticed that Swati had made a call to the police, he left the room. Swati went to the police station but eventually left without filing a complaint. She gave her statement to Delhi Police three days later, which resulted in FIR against Vibhav. The police have charged Vibhav Kumar with various sections, including IPC Section 308 for attempt to commit culpable homicide, Section 323 for causing hurt, Section 341 for wrongful restraint, and others related to assault and criminal intimidation. Supreme Court lawyer Anurag Kishore said that these charges are serious and can result in severe punishment upon conviction.

Why did Vibhav assault Swati, and what's behind Kejriwal's silence?

The incident has raised many questions about the reasons behind the assault and the conspicuous silence from both Swati and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. As the Delhi Police actively investigates the case, examining CCTV footage from Kejriwal's residence to understand the sequence of events, both parties appear to avoid the limelight. The police have formed separate teams to investigate the case, signifying the serious approach towards finding the truth. Nonetheless, getting to the bottom of what happened on May 13 poses a significant challenge for the police, especially when contrasting statements and FIRs from both Vibhav and Swati paint a complex picture of the events.
