Amidst the Delhi elections, BJP has raised questions on AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal's nomination. According to BJP, Kejriwal has concealed his FIRs and income connections in his nomination papers. BJP has raised four objections against Kejriwal, sparking a heated debate at the electoral officer's office regarding the dismissal of these objections.

Arvind Kejriwal has filed his nomination for the New Delhi seat from the Aam Aadmi Party. He has previously won this seat in 2013, 2015, and 2020, and is now in the electoral fray for the fourth time. This year he faces BJP's Parvesh Verma and Congress's Sandeep Dikshit. Parvesh's father, Sahib Singh Verma, and Sandeep's mother, Sheila Dikshit, have both served as Delhi's Chief Ministers.

The New Delhi seat has become quite high-profile. The objection, in this case, was officially recorded by BJP candidate Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma's representative.

Objection 1:

Arvind Kejriwal has four FIRs registered against him that he has not disclosed.

Objection 2:

Arvind Kejriwal has live voters listed in three locations.

Objection 3:

Arvind Kejriwal has hidden his actual income.

Objection 4:

The number through which Kejriwal has enrolled isn't valid.

Authorized representative Sanket Gupta from Parvesh Verma's side claimed that Kejriwal withheld numerous details in the affidavit he submitted intentionally misleading voters. BJP further stated, Kejriwal declared his total income as 157,823/- INR for the year 2019-20, approximately 13,152/- INR monthly. In the following year, he claimed an annual income of 162,976/- INR, which translates to 13,581/- INR monthly, and for 2022-23 he declared an annual income of 167,066/- INR, amounting to 13,922/- INR monthly.

BJP insisted that their objections, backed with evidence, should be considered, and the AAP candidate Kejriwal's nomination should be rejected.

The assembly elections in Delhi are being held for 70 seats, all in one phase. Votes will be cast on February 5, while results will be announced on February 8. The competition primarily features the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, BJP, and Congress.
