Amidst the monsoon season, districts across Uttar Pradesh are grappling with power disruptions. In Hardoi, too, this issue has surfaced. Addressing this, BJP legislator from Bilgram-Mallawan, Ashish Singh Ashu, has written to the state's Energy Minister, AK Sharma. He highlights that the region has been besieged by continuous power supply interruptions for a month. Despite discussions with department officials, the grievance remains unresolved, sparking public ire. He has urged the Energy Minister for an expedient resolution.

In areas including NCR, Purvanchal, and central UP, uninterrupted power supply continues to be a lingering concern. Following the parliamentary elections, the state has reinstated the roster system, prescribing a 6-hour power cut in rural areas under the new schedule. Similarly, tehsil and municipal headquarters will face 2.5 hours, while Bundelkhand will endure 4 hours of power cutbacks. Notably, the rationale behind reintroducing the roster system has not been disclosed. Previously in April, announcements promised an end to the roster system and a return to 24-hour seamless power supply.

The State Load Dispatch Center's (SLDC) report indicates that rural areas have been experiencing roughly 6 hours of daily power cuts, split into morning and evening shifts, since July 1st. In tehsil and municipal headquarters, the cuts occur twice a day, totaling 2.5 hours. This arrangement is expected to continue until July 31st. Disruptions due to transmission line faults and local issues have also been reported.

Meanwhile, showcasing low power demand, seven power generation units have been shut down. This includes four from Tanda and three from Harduaganj. According to the Uttar Pradesh State Load Dispatch Center's report, these units are capable of generating 1,455 megawatts. Additionally, one 250 megawatt unit from Harduaganj and a 660 megawatt unit from Jawaharpur have been shut down due to technical reasons. Hence, Uttar Pradesh currently faces a halt in production amounting to 2,365 megawatts.
