What Has Happened So Far in the BPSC Protest?

The Demands of the Students
The BPSC 70th Combined Competitive Preliminary Exam was held on December 13, 2024. From the exam day itself, candidates have been accusing irregularities and demanding the cancellation of the exam. Notably, amidst the controversy surrounding the BPSC 70th Preliminary Exam in Bihar, a re-exam was conducted on January 4 for approximately 12,000 candidates at 22 exam centers. The commission is now preparing to announce the results of the preliminary examination soon.
Indeed, the BPSC 70th PT exam was conducted on December 13 across various centers in Bihar. From the day of the exam, candidates have been accusing it of irregularities, demanding its cancellation and re-conduction. Candidates alleged that at Patna’s Bapu Exam Center, students received their papers late, and seals were already broken. This outrage led exam-takers to throw sheets and papers in other exam rooms, an act confirmed by CCTV cameras in the rooms.
March Towards the Chief Minister's Residence
Earlier, student protesters from organizations like AISA (All India Students Association) and RYA (Revolutionary Youngsters Association) started marching from Gandhi Maidan in Patna towards the Chief Minister's residence, demanding the cancellation of the BPSC exam and a fresh, transparent procedure for conducting it.
Escalating Student Anger
Previously, the use of lathi-charge and water cannons by the police on protesting students in Patna further fueled their anger. Students contend that the government is trying to suppress their voices, yet they stand firm on their demands.
Government’s Silence?
So far, the government has not released any official statement on this matter. Students and opposition parties assert that if their demands are not met soon, the movement will intensify. The escalating protests in Patna have posed a significant challenge to the Bihar government. It remains to be seen how the government responds to this issue.
