In recent events, a man impersonating a tax officer was apprehended in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Upon further investigation by the police, a surprising story unfolded. Ritesh Sharma, the accused, was driving a car that boldly proclaimed 'Tax Officer' on it. The car was provided by his father after Ritesh convinced his family he had secured a job as a tax official.

On April 3rd, in the evening, this story came to light. Due to election code of conduct, police were thoroughly checking vehicles. ACP Kalyanpur and his force were inspecting vehicles in the Rawatpur area when they noticed a car with a 'Tax Officer' plate.

Upon interrogating the individual, police grew suspicious as he was unable to justify his position in the tax department and took him to the station. Stern questioning and ID card verification revealed the entire case to be a sham.

The police revealed that Ritesh Sharma had been preparing for the SSC exams. After his failure, he orchestrated the false narrative of being a tax officer, overjoying his family to the extent that they threw a party for 200-250 guests.

Lying to his family, he requested a car, which his father provided, believing the lie.

Ritesh initially left home on his bike, claiming to be going to the office. Later, he stated that it wouldn't look appropriate for a 'tax officer' to commute on a bike. Hearing this, his father got him a car. Once the car was acquired, Ritesh had 'Tax Officer' added to it and began his daily commute according to office hours.

This charade had been ongoing for eight months. Police seized the car, fake number plate, and ID card, initiating an investigation. They are also probing whether the fake tax officer had defrauded anyone. The question remains: why did Ritesh lie to his father about needing the car?
