In the American presidential election, Republican Party candidate Donald Trump rarely speaks about the possibility of his defeat. However, in an interview, he mentioned that if he loses the upcoming election on November 5th, he will never run for president again. The 78-year-old Trump expressed confidence in his victory in the election.
Running against Democratic Party leader and Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump shared his thoughts in an interview. On the news program 'Full Measure,' Trump stated that if he loses the presidential election to Kamala Harris, he will not run for president again.
'I think this will be my last election. I don't think I will contest the 2028 election,’ Trump remarked, adding that he hopes for success in this election.
Harris and Trump in a Tight Race
Recent surveys reveal that Trump and Harris are giving each other a tough fight in key US states. Trump had lost to President Joe Biden in the 2020 election but refused to concede defeat, alleging election fraud and promoting various conspiracy theories.
On January 6, 2021, Trump's supporters stormed the US Capitol. The former president, who served from 2016 to 2020, faces multiple criminal charges related to attempts to overturn the election results. Trump denies all wrongdoing, claiming the charges are politically motivated.
If Trump joins the 2028 presidential race, he will be 82 years old at the time.
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris, 59, has described this election as a critical moment for American democracy. She is campaigning on issues such as housing costs and inflation, with women's abortion rights playing a significant role in her campaign.
