The newly inaugurated President of the United States, Donald Trump, has sworn into office. Following this, he participated in three traditional events held at the White House, aptly called 'balls'. At the Commander in Chief Ball, Trump engaged in a satellite conversation with American soldiers stationed in South Korea, and it's garnering quite a buzz for his intriguing question.
During the ball, Trump inquired about the North Korean dictator, Kim Jong Un, from the American soldiers stationed in South Korea. Both the United States and South Korea consider North Korea and its ruler Kim as adversaries. According to an Associated Press report, Trump asked his soldiers, 'How is Kim Jong Un doing? What's Kim's current status?'
At the same time, Trump remarked that Kim Jong Un is a tough person with bad intentions, although he noted he maintained a positive relationship with the reclusive dictator.
In his first term, Trump had a face-to-face meeting with Kim. Despite North Korea's nuclear ambitions and the ensuing tensions in the region with the U.S. and its allies, Trump praised Kim.
Trump Cuts Cake with Sword and Dances Up a Storm
At the Commander in Chief Ball, Trump danced energetically with a military sword before cutting a massive cake adorned with insignias of American military branches. He used the sword to cut the cake. Joining him were his wife Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and his wife Usha Vance.
The cake was adorned with a model of the advanced Boeing 747, which is slated for acquisition by the U.S. Air Force as part of the Air Force One military fleet. Trump had ambitions to acquire this aircraft during his first term, though Biden shelved the purchase plans.
Trump initiated talks for the plane's purchase in 2017, during his first year in office, but the deal has been pending for years. It's anticipated that before Trump's departure in 2029, these aircraft will not be ready for flight.
