During the Supreme Court hearing on the Bihar voter list revision, the issue was raised about Aadhaar cards and election cards not being included in the prescribed 11 documents for voter identification. However, senior advocate Rakesh Dwivedi, representing the Election Commission, clarified that according to the Supreme Court's decision, the Aadhaar card serves as an identity card but does not guarantee eligibility to vote.

According to top sources associated with the Election Commission, the provision of entering the Aadhaar number is indeed in the SIR notification's page 16. The commission states that this notification is 19 pages long, with the last three pages being crucial for the general voters' form. The form begins on page 16, requiring the name, address, and EPIC, or Election Photo Identification Card number, to be filled in at the top left, followed by pasting a photograph. Below that, the columns for date of birth, Aadhaar number, and mobile number need to be filled out.

'Issues and debates needless...'

The Election Commission asserts that when a voter provides this information, their identification will be duly verified with proper documentation. Hence, the debate on why Aadhaar and voter ID were not included is pointless.

Bihar voters' active participation, along with 77,895 Booth Level Officers, 20,603 specially appointed additional BLOs, other election officials, and approximately 400,000 volunteers, have contributed to the collection of 66.16% of enumeration forms. Voters still have 15 days to submit the forms.

Since the SIR instructions were issued on June 24, 2025, 5,22,44,956 enumeration forms have been collected within the last 16 days by this Thursday evening at 6 PM. These account for 66.16% of the total 7,89,69,844 (approximately 7.90 crore) existing voters in Bihar. Since the start of the SIR exercise, 7.90 crore forms have been printed, out of which around 98% (7.71 crore) have been distributed to voters.
