Kanpur Woman Murder:
The shocking act of a gym trainer murdering a woman and concealing her remains near the DM residence in Kanpur has laid bare the vulnerabilities in the city's security network. Contrary to initial reports, authorities clarified that the body was discovered adjacent to the residence, near a neighboring club. In response, the Joint Police Commissioner has mandated verification for all gym establishments and trainers citywide.
In the detailed account, Ekta Gupta (32), wife of businessman Rahul Gupta, routinely visited a gym in the Green Park area every morning. On June 24th, she left for her workout, as usual, at 5:30 AM, but never returned home. In distress, her husband reported her abduction, suspecting the gym trainer. Yet, police narratives suggest a year-long affair with the trainer, Vimal Soni, turned tragic when Soni's impending marriage to another led to a fatal confrontation. Soni allegedly struck Ekta, resulting in her demise, after which he discreetly buried the body on the premises. Ekta's husband refutes these claims, maintaining his wife's devotion.
Police sources revealed that during interrogation, Vimal Soni confessed to being inspired by the film 'Drishyam' in devising his plan. Recalling the movie's plot where a character hides a body within a construction site, Soni exploited his familiarity with the DM compound, falsely assuming its high security would avert any suspicions of foul play.
Tracking Soni for several months, the authorities finally arrested him. Initially, Soni evaded truth-telling, claiming to have disposed of Ekta’s body in the river at Bithoor Ghat. However, upon examining CCTV footage, his deception was uncovered, prompting a more thorough interrogation. Soni eventually confessed to the murder and burial within the DM premises.
