Team India has recently clinched a 4-1 victory in a five-match Test series against England. Now the players are gearing up for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, set to commence on March 22. Prior to the IPL's commencement, Gujarat Titans (GT) have suffered a setback with fast bowler Mohammed Shami unable to participate in the upcoming season.

After undergoing ankle surgery last month, on the flip side, Delhi Capitals' (DC) received good news. Rishabh Pant is ready to make his competitive cricket comeback through IPL 2024. Pant has been given the green signal by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Pant has been away from the field after a severe car accident in December 2022.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has made a major announcement regarding Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Shami, and KL Rahul. Shah revealed that Shami, who is recovering from ankle surgery, could return to cricket during India's home Test series against Bangladesh this September. India is set to host Bangladesh for two Test matches and three T20 International matches. Shami last played for India in the Cricket World Cup 2023.

Jay Shah remarked to the media, 'Shami has completed his surgery and is back in India. There is a possibility of his comeback for the home series against Bangladesh. KL Rahul needed an injection, has started his rehab, and is at the NCA.' Rahul missed the last four matches of the Test series against England due to quadriceps pain. After receiving treatment in London, he is expected to join Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for the IPL.

Jay Shah sets the stage for Pant's comeback

BCCI Secretary has confirmed that Rishabh Pant is ready for IPL return. Shah commented, 'He is batting well, keeping well. We will soon declare him fit. If he can play the T20 World Cup, it would be significant for us. Pant is an essential player for us. If he can keep, he'll likely play in the World Cup. His IPL performance will be closely monitored.'

When asked about foreign investment in the Indian Premier League, Jay Shah responded that it's not feasible as BCCI is a society, not a company. He stated, 'BCCI is a society and cannot accept investments.' Last year, news broke that Saudi Arabia was eyeing billions of dollars in IPL investments. A society registered in India cannot accept foreign investment without the approval from the central government and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
