A heart-wrenching incident from Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh highlights the grim reality of dowry demands claiming lives. In Gothra village, a husband brutally killed his wife simply because she couldn’t meet the demand for a Scorpio vehicle and 10 lakh rupees. This shocking event exposes the bitter truth of the dowry system yet again.
The deceased has been identified as Ishika, originally from Badhpura village in Dadri, Gautam Buddh Nagar district. Ishika was married to Sachin from Gothra village. Shortly after their marriage, Ishika began facing relentless dowry pressure.
Violent Demands for Scorpio and 10 Lakhs
Family members revealed that husband Sachin continually demanded a Scorpio car and 10 lakh rupees from Ishika. As the demands went unmet, his behavior grew increasingly violent with daily domestic squabbles, and Ishika was both mentally and physically tortured.
Allegations suggest that, in rage over the unfulfilled dowry, Sachin resorted to extreme cruelty, hanging Ishika, resulting in her immediate death. What happened during the incident is under police investigation.

Upon learning of the incident, Ishika's family rushed to Gothra village and filed a complaint. They accused not only Sachin but also his sister-in-law and elder brother of conspiring in the dowry murder. It's reported that Ishika’s sister, who is also married into the same family, faced similar dowry harassment.
Police arrived on the scene, took the body into custody, and sent it for autopsy. Based on the family's complaint, a case of dowry murder has been registered. The primary accused, husband Sachin, has been arrested and the investigation is in progress.
Family’s Allegations and Police Statements
Ishika’s family, notably Sunita, claimed their daughter faced dowry harassment since marriage. She mentioned that Ishika was hanged over not fulfilling the Scorpio demand.
Conversely, the police stated that they have apprehended the accused husband based on the complaints. They are conducting a thorough investigation, pledging strict action against anyone found guilty.
