Russia Claims Over 162 Zelensky Drones Shot Down

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been ongoing for more than three years, with tensions escalating as Ukraine launched a major drone attack against Russia. This bold move targeted a Russian airbase, destroying 41 aircraft in what has been dubbed Operation Spider Web. Recent updates reveal that Russia claimed to have shot down 162 Ukrainian drones during this incident.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed this the day after, stating that Ukraine had targeted several cities and industrial facilities across Russia.

From 8:10 PM on June 1st to 2:00 AM on June 2nd Moscow time, Russia's air defense systems intercepted and shot down over 162 drones mid-air.

According to the statement, Ukraine's deployment included 57 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the Kursk region, 31 in Belgorod, 27 in Lipetsk, 16 in Voronezh, 11 in Bryansk, 11 in Ryazan, 6 in Oryol, 2 in the Republic of Crimea, and 1 in Tambov.

Prior to this, Russia had confirmed that Ukrainian drone attacks had targeted five military airbases nationwide, causing damage to several aircraft. However, no precise figures of damaged aircraft were provided.

Against the backdrop of current tensions between Russia and Ukraine, a Ukrainian delegation has arrived in Istanbul for the next round of peace talks with Russia, which are scheduled to take place on the afternoon of June 2nd.
