The Indian cricket team is gearing up for their tour of England this month, where they will compete in a five-match Test series against the hosts. India's squad has already been announced. Shubman Gill will lead the team as captain, making it his first assignment as Test skipper. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been named vice-captain.
Although India is prepared, England's lineup remains under wraps. There are growing concerns for England, especially as their pace unit is battling significant injuries. Five key pace bowlers from the English team are injured, and some may not be available for the upcoming Test series...
♦ The injury list starts with right-arm fast bowler Jofra Archer, who injured his thumb. This injury caused him to miss some matches for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and also kept him out of the West Indies series. However, there is a good chance Archer will return for the Test series against India.
♦ Mark Wood suffered a knee injury during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against Afghanistan, which required surgery, sidelining him for four months. He is expected to return by the end of July, so his participation against India is doubtful.

♦ Gus Atkinson's hamstring strain, sustained in a recent Test against Zimbabwe, kept him out of the ODI series against the West Indies. It is uncertain whether Atkinson will regain fitness in time for India's Test series.
♦ Another casualty is fast bowler Olly Stone, who has been confirmed out of the series against India. Stone injured his knee during Nottinghamshire's pre-season tour in Abu Dhabi this March. Reports suggest he requires surgery and will be out for at least 14 weeks.
♦ Jamie Overton has also joined the injured list with a finger fracture sustained during the first ODI against the West Indies. Overton is undergoing rehabilitation under the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). No clear timeline for his return is currently available.
