The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to dazzle with an impressive aerial display during this year's Republic Day celebrations, featuring 40 aircraft. Among the lineup is the state-of-the-art Rafale, which will grace the skies in a breathtaking flypast. However, the ALH Dhruv and Tejas aircraft will not be part of this formation, marking a significant shift in this year’s lineup.
Why are ALH Dhruv and Tejas missing?
According to an Indian Air Force PRO, the ALH Dhruv remains grounded and will not be used for the flypast. The Tejas light combat aircraft, despite its stellar performance, is excluded due to its single-engine configuration, which is not preferred for the parade. Nonetheless, the Tejas has graced the RD parade skies on several occasions in the past.
What about the flypast?
The flypast will feature various formations showcasing the might of 22 fighter aircraft, 11 transport planes, and 7 helicopters. This includes Rafale, Su-30 MKI, and C-130J Hercules, creating awe-inspiring aerial patterns over the capital city.
Wing Commander Manish Sharma, speaking about the aerial performance, remarked, "The flypast is divided into two blocks. Block 2 will occur post-parade, comprising intricate formations and precise maneuvers."
Ground Ceremony and Marching Contingents
The Republic Day festivities will commence at the National War Memorial, followed by the ceremonial marching contingent of the Indian Air Force. This contingent comprises 4 officers and 144 participants, marching to tunes played by a 72-piece IAF band. The marching tunes—Astronaut, Air Force Power, and Northern Borders—will echo the valor of the Air Force.
Beating Retreat
The Indian Air Force will also partake in the grand Beating Retreat ceremony, where 128 musicians will perform patriotic tunes.
Agniveer Air Warriors Sparkle
This year will also witness the participation of Agniveer air warriors, showcasing the IAF's commitment to integrating their new cadre into formal and operational roles.
As India gears up to celebrate its 76th Republic Day, the Indian Air Force's display underscores the nation's burgeoning air power and the unwavering spirit of its armed forces.
