In an interview with Aaj Tak, Union Minister and National President of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Chirag Paswan, unveiled the NDA coalition's preparations for the upcoming elections in Bihar. He made it clear that there are no tensions regarding seat distribution within the NDA, and allocations will be determined by each party's capacity to win. He praised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as the strongest link in the alliance. Furthermore, Chirag Paswan emphasized his 'Bihar First, Bihari First' vision, expressing his desire to contest the assembly elections, with the final decision resting with the parliamentary board.

Chirag Paswan pointed out that media narratives before elections often exaggerate troubles within NDA regarding seat distribution, whereas in reality, each party strives to secure seats based on its capabilities.

He said, "Our army is ready, our commanders are prepared. Before each election, there is an attempt to set narratives in the Mahagathbandhan and NDA, but the reality is completely different."

Comments on Seat Demands and Myths

Jitan Ram Manjhi had mentioned contesting 100 seats. Chirag remarked this was merely a political statement and no final decision has been made regarding seat distribution yet. He clarified that discussions within the coalition are ongoing and seats will be allocated based on their strength and winning potential.

Sharing his experience, Chirag said, "In every Lok Sabha election, we achieved great success on the seats we were given. The same process will continue in 2024."

Beyond Winning Capability in Candidate Selection

Chirag stressed that while winability is crucial in seat distribution, factors like the candidate's education, clean image, and representation of youth and women are significant as well. He expressed his aim to provide opportunities to more women and young people.

"These factors are essential, but eventually, the strongest areas of the party play a decisive role," he stated.

Opposition Alliances and Statements

Chirag Paswan commented on the activities of the opposition, mentioning that Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav's campaigns suggest their attempts to assert dominance. He remarked, "When a significant figure can influence elections, they aim to make an impact on every seat."

He also noted that multiple opposition parties preparing for separate elections create narratives of discord through their statements.

He added, "Rahul Gandhi did not announce my younger brother Tejashwi as a candidate for Chief Minister. This must have surely hurt Tejashwi."

Chirag further mentioned that Tejashwi has once again embarked on a tour, leaving Chirag puzzled about its implications, indicating turbulence within the Mahagathbandhan.

The Issue of Jungle Raj and Bihar's Development

Recalling the days of Jungle Raj, Chirag Paswan highlighted that the opposition still uses it as a false narrative. He pointed to Bihar's development and new projects like airports as evidence of the alliance's development-focused approach.

Election Goals and Position on Chief Ministership

Chirag made it clear that their goal is to win more than 225 seats and form a government. He asserted that all have unanimously accepted Nitish Kumar's leadership for the Chief Minister role. While he remains determined to contest, a final decision on seat sharing and election strategy remains pending.

"I cannot make a final decision on contesting until seat discussions are complete. It will be a collective decision," Chirag stated.

Intrusion and Security Issues

Chirag Paswan identified intrusion and security in Bihar's border areas as significant election issues. He emphasized that no illegal claims on Indian resources will be tolerated, and his party will actively address these concerns.

NDA remains united with strong leadership under Nitish Kumar.

Chirag Paswan notes potential narratives setting up in media circles.

Seat distribution and candidate selection are ongoing, with a focus on winning potential and diversity.
