The National Lok Janshakti Party Chief and former Union Minister, Pashupati Kumar Paras, met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Monday. Former MP Prince Raj was also in attendance at this crucial meeting. This interaction is particularly significant as Chirag Paswan's party, RLJP, has recently adopted stances diverging from the government's positions on several issues, including the Waqf Board Bill, reservation for the creamy layer, and UPSC lateral entry.

After RLJP's differing stance, BJP's state president Dilip Jaiswal met with Pashupati Paras. Paras' meeting with Amit Shah in Delhi seems to indicate that despite being on the periphery in the Lok Sabha elections as part of the NDA, his popularity is once again on the rise. During the meeting, Pashupati Kumar Paras assured Amit Shah that his party will continue to support the NDA in the upcoming assembly elections.

Chirag Paswan's Divergent Stance from NDA

Chirag Paswan has taken a firm stance against the creamy layer within the reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). He argues that such categorization undermines the fundamental goals of reservation. He believes that reservations should focus on addressing social injustice rather than economic status, making the creamy layer policy unsuitable for SC and ST communities.

Regarding the UPSC lateral entry issue, the LJP advocates that any policy concerning civil services entry should be inclusive for all, ensuring that disadvantaged groups receive adequate representation and opportunities.

What is Chirag Paswan's Strategy?

Chirag Paswan's LJP has clearly expressed its positions on significant social and political issues, calling for reforms that prioritize transparency and equality. The party's commitment to supporting the Waqf Board Bill, opposing the creamy layer in reservations, and advocating for inclusive civil service recruitment policies reflects its strategy to strengthen support for backward communities and effectively address their concerns.
