Reportedly, the RCB management approached Bengaluru City Police for permission to host a victory parade at M Chinnaswamy Stadium before the IPL 2025 final on June 3. However, even before obtaining approval, the Royal Challengers Bangalore management announced their victory parade on X. This post, originating from RCB's handle, soon went viral, garnering over a million views within hours.
Sources indicate that following the social media post, a massive crowd gathered outside the stadium, resulting in a stampede leading to the unfortunate death of 11 people and injury to over 30 others. Bengaluru police had informed RCB that permission was denied for the victory parade. The police had recommended RCB postpone and not conduct the parade on June 4. Despite this, RCB tweeted the timing and venue of the parade without police discussion.

The announcement of free entry passes by RCB further escalated the situation. Police then advised the team to implement a registration process. Furthermore, the police suggested holding the event on a Sunday for minimal traffic disruption and ample time for security arrangements. Despite police advice, the state government disregarded the recommendations and decided to proceed with RCB's plan on June 4.
