In the HSR Layout area of Bengaluru, Karnataka, a Hindu woman has filed a complaint against a man named Mohammad Ishaq. She claims he deceived her by promising marriage. The woman reported that on October 17, 2024, she connected with Mohammad Ishaq bin Abdul Rassool via Instagram, leading to a friendship that blossomed into love.
On October 30, 2024, the two met near Elements Mall, Thanisandra, after which Ishaq took her to a private hotel in Dasarahalli. Ishaq repeatedly engaged in relations with her under the false promise of marriage at the hotel.
The woman alleges that in September 2025, she discovered Ishaq had been involved with several other women. On September 14, 2025, Ishaq got engaged to a Muslim woman. When questioned about the engagement, Ishaq threatened to harm her if she contacted him again.
The Instagram Connection...
The victim, Pen Gonda Nagaveni, a sales executive, filed a complaint at the HSR Layout police station on October 19. She has been residing in Bengaluru's HSR Layout since 2020. She recounted meeting 30-year-old Mohammad Ishaq bin Abdul Rassool through Instagram the previous year on October 17. The digital introduction led to the exchange of phone numbers and intimate conversations.
Promises of Marriage with Physical Relations
On October 30, 2024, Ishaq invited Nagaveni to meet near Elements Mall. There, they discussed marriage and family approval. Following this, Ishaq took her to a hotel known as Super Town House in Dasarahalli. Trusting his promise of marriage, she consented to be intimate with him. Continually, he lured her under the guise of marriage and their relationship persisted.
Shocking Revelation and Familial Pressure
By September 2025, the woman learned of Ishaq's interactions with other women. On the 14th of the same month, she uncovered his engagement to a Muslim woman. When she confronted Ishaq, his uncle suggested she consider conversion. He asked her to spend 40 days learning their customs and practicing prayers.
Threatened to Sever Ties
Ishaq told the victim that he couldn't forsake his family for her. Post engagement, when she questioned Ishaq, he insulted and issued her a warning to leave him be, threatening lethal action if she called or bothered him again. The police have registered a case and investigations are ongoing.
