Renowned two-wheeler manufacturer Ola, known for its electric scooters, now ventures to manage your home's energy supply. By entering India's $1 trillion Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) market, Ola launches its first residential energy solution, ‘Ola Shakti’. Now, Ola is not just lighting up roads but powering homes with clean, green energy.
The company stated that its world-class battery technology for electric vehicles is now powering homes. Ola Shakti is a portable device that can be utilized for operating household air conditioners, refrigerators, water pumps, or even small business setups. CEO Bhavish Aggarwal explained, “We never named the company Ola Auto because our vision extended beyond manufacturing vehicles. We aim to create an entire energy ecosystem, and Ola Shakti is our next stride in that direction.”

Ola Electric describes this development as an extension of their existing 4680 cell technology and gigafactory production capacity. By leveraging its nationwide Ola network for sales and distribution, additional investments are not required.
Ola Shakti offers a portable solution that supersedes traditional inverters, providing multiple functions for home and business electricity use. Ola's CEO remarked at the launch, “With Ola Electric, our vision has always been to advance the entire energy storage supply chain. Ola Shakti is integral to that vision, acting as a power backup offering solutions like solar storage, voltage stability, and electricity portability.”
Available in four variants: 1.5 kWh, 3 kWh, 5.2 kWh, and 9.1 kWh, the initial 10,000 units are priced at ₹29,999, ₹55,999, ₹1,19,999, and ₹1,59,999 respectively. Pre-bookings have started at ₹999, with deliveries commencing from Makar Sankranti 2026. The introductory pricing applies only to the initial 10,000 units.
This device is equipped with advanced features such as instant power changeover, weatherproof IP67 rated battery, and real-time monitoring through a connected app. Users can easily connect it to a smartphone for constant oversight. Ola Shakti can simultaneously power devices like AC, refrigerators, and pumps for approximately 1.5 hours at full capacity.

The company plans to utilize its existing service centers and store networks for these energy storage solutions. Aggarwal noted that the launch is initially in the Business-to-Consumer (B2C) segment, with plans for a Business-to-Business (B2B) model soon. “The B2B version will be introduced as a container grid product, while the B2C model will cater to homes, small businesses, and community level energy demands, expandable up to 27 kWh if needed,” he explained.
India's battery energy storage system market is estimated at around $1 trillion, projected to reach ₹3 trillion by 2030. Ola Electric anticipates its annual BESS use may reach 5 GWh in upcoming years. This launch marks not just a product introduction but a new era for Ola, as it progresses beyond mobility to redefine India's energy future.
