The woman tourist claimed that just before the incident on April 20, she was exploring Baisaran Valley when the suspect, depicted in the sketch, offered her a mule ride. During this, he asked several unusual questions about religion, visits to religious sites, and the religious identity of friends. The tourist provided photos and WhatsApp group screenshots from her phone, where her friends also recognized the suspect. The image depicted a man wearing a maroon jacket and pyjamas.
The woman further alleged that during the mule ride, the suspect received a phone call where she overheard conversations about coded plans, such as 'Plan A brake fail, Plan B– 35 guns I sent, hidden in the grass.' Realizing the tourist was paying careful attention, the suspect switched to speaking in the local dialect.
