The debate on Operation Sindur has commenced in the Lok Sabha, initiated by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. He praised the bravery of the army during this operation. He elaborated on the losses inflicted on Pakistan and the circumstances leading to the ceasefire.
Singh highlighted that the objective of Operation Sindur was dismantling the terror nurseries nurtured for years in Pakistan. Our forces precisely targeted those supporting terrorists that continuously attacked India. The mission was never to wage war.
Pakistan's DGMO Called: Rajnath
The Defense Minister recounted that on the morning of May 10th, when the Indian Air Force hit Pakistan's airfields, Pakistan acknowledged defeat. Consequently, Pakistan reached out to our DGMO, requesting a halt. Following this, on May 12th, formal discussions occurred between the DGMOs of both nations, leading to an agreement to cease military actions. We agreed, with conditions that any future aggression from Pakistan would reignite the operation.
Aim to Charge the Adversary
The overall politico-military objective of Operation Sindur was to penalize Pakistan for its proxy war via terrorism. Thus, the armed forces were granted autonomy to select their targets and respond effectively, with the intention of forcing the adversary into submission rather than sparking outright war.
He initially paid tribute through the house to the brave martyrs defending our nation's borders and saluted the memory of those who sacrificed their all for India's unity and integrity. On behalf of the country, he expressed deep gratitude to all military personnel.
Operation Executed on May 6-7
Continuing, the Defense Minister stated that on May 6 and 7 of 2025, India's armed forces executed the historic military campaign known as Operation Sindur. This was not merely a military action but a powerful testament to India's sovereignty, dignity, responsibility towards its citizens, and its stringent anti-terrorism policy.
Before executing Operation Sindur, our forces meticulously studied every aspect. Multiple strategies were considered, but the one chosen was the one ensuring maximum damage to terrorists and their bases while sparing Pakistan's civilian populace.
9 Terror Camps Targeted
Rajnath Singh further stated, 'The well-coordinated strikes by our forces targeted and obliterated 9 terror camps, resulting in the death of approximately 100 terrorists, primarily affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. These organizations have been openly backed by Pakistan's army and ISI.
He mentioned that before executing Operation Sindur, our forces thoroughly evaluated all elements, opting for a plan maximizing damage to terrorists and their strongholds while ensuring no harm to it.
