Reports of officials accepting bribes in exchange for favors frequently surface in government offices. Recently, a notable case has emerged from Mumbai, Maharashtra's capital. A court official was apprehended while accepting a substantial bribe. According to information, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested an officer from the Small Causes Court for taking a bribe of INR 2.5 million from a hotel businessman to settle a case in his favor.

Team apprehends the accused at a hotel
An official informed a news agency that based on a complaint, an ACB team laid a trap on Monday in a hotel located in LT Marg. During this operation, the team caught the accused, Vishal Chandrakant Sawant, accepting the bribe amount.
The official added that the accused works as a translator in the Small Causes Court. The complainant, a hotelier, alleged that Sawant demanded INR 2.5 million to resolve a pending ownership dispute in his favor.

Arrest made under the Prevention of Corruption Act
The official confirmed that the accused has been arrested under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. He is currently being interrogated.
