The Gautam Buddha Nagar District Administration has initiated significant action against negligence in the Special Summary Revision (SIR) being conducted by the Election Commission across 12 states. Under the guidance of District Magistrate and District Election Officer Medha Roopam, FIRs have been filed against 60 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and 7 supervisors who neglected the voter list revision duties.
All FIRs have been registered under Section 32 of the Representation of People Act, 1950. The district administration had already made it clear that any negligence during the SIR process, running from November 4 to December 4, would not be tolerated at any level.
Negligence Uncovered During Inspection
Despite this warning, several BLOs and supervisors did not treat the campaign with the seriousness it demanded. Inspections revealed negligence and a disregard for the instructions from senior officials. As a result, the district administration took strict measures by registering FIRs in all three assembly constituencies of the district: Dadri, Noida, and Jewar.
FIRs Registered Across Police Stations
In Assembly 62-Dadri, FIRs were filed at Ecotech-1 Police Station against 32 BLOs and 1 supervisor; in Assembly 61-Noida, they were filed at Dadri Police Station against 11 BLOs and 6 supervisors; and in Assembly 63-Jewar, they were filed at Jewar Police Station against 17 BLOs. The administration emphasizes that accurate and timely revision of the voter list is fundamental to the democratic process, and negligence at any level is unacceptable.
