The Russian presidential office, the Kremlin, refuted reports on Monday claiming that America's newly elected President, Donald Trump, recently spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Both the Washington Post and Reuters cited unnamed sources alleging that Trump urged Putin not to escalate the Ukraine war during a phone call.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed these reports as 'completely false' and 'fictitious,' emphasizing that 'no conversation took place.' Peskov criticized the media, pointing out that even respectable outlets occasionally publish unverified information.

'No Plans for Conversation Yet'

When asked about any future contact plans between Putin and Trump, Peskov stated 'there are currently no definite plans.' The war in Ukraine, ongoing for over two years, has reached a pivotal stage. Russian forces have been gaining momentum, prompting Western nations to discuss ways to resolve the conflict.

Claimed He Could Halt the War in 24 Hours

During his campaign, Trump claimed that if elected, he could bring peace to Ukraine within 24 hours. However, he did not elaborate on how he planned to achieve this. On Thursday, President Putin publicly congratulated Trump on his victory, calling him courageous for staying in the race despite an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.

Putin commented, 'I see no harm in talking with Trump. If some world leaders want to re-establish contact, I’m not against it. We are ready to talk with Trump. His expressed desire to restore relations with Russia and help end the Ukrainian crisis, in my view, is noteworthy at the very least. I’ve been impressed by how Trump handled himself after a July assassination attempt. Trump is a 'courageous person.'

Putin's Warnings to Western Nations

Recently, Russia warned the U.S. and its allies about supporting Ukraine and launching attacks in Russian territories. Previously, Putin indicated that NATO's involvement in the attacks would mean 'direct participation of NATO countries, the U.S., and European nations in the Ukraine war.'

This ongoing diplomatic narrative continues to evolve, with the potential to reshape international relations and global peace efforts.
