As Bihar approaches its year-end state assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar embarks on a transformative state tour called the ‘Progress Journey.’ The next significant stop for CM Kumar is Saran district (Chapra), famed for its association with the influential Jayaprakash Narayan. On Wednesday, he will inaugurate a state-of-the-art medical college and hospital, rejuvenated Mahmada Pond in Garkha, and new courts for volleyball, handball, and badminton. Additionally, he will hold a meeting at the collectorate to review ongoing projects.
An impressive medical college, constructed on land gifted by Jayaprakash University for 4.25 billion INR, offers 100 MBBS seats and awards a BSc in Nursing with 60 seats. This 500-bed institution extends its healthcare services beyond Saran to include Siwan and Gopalganj. For accompanying families and visitors, a rest home is also available.
Taking further steps in infrastructure development, the administration has decided to improve connectivity from the medical college to NH-31 (previous NH-19). Under the Chief Minister's Sports Development Scheme, volleyball, handball, and badminton courts are gifts to the public from the CM. Nitish Kumar will also be visiting Ekma, where he’ll lay the foundation for a 5.5-meter wide road stretching from Ekma to Dumai Garh at a cost of 400 million INR and a 7-meter wide road from Ekma to Mashrak for 900 million INR, both constructed by PWD.

Nitish Kumar’s Extensive Journey Achievements
Since 2005, just before the Bihar elections, Nitish Kumar has ventured on numerous tours across the state, starting with the Justice Journey, which heralded the end of Lalu Yadav's RJD rule. Over time, Nitish has embarked on 14 journeys, each with distinct agendas and goals for Bihar. During 2009, he initiated a Development Journey, followed by a Gratitude Journey after a commendable party performance, and a Report Card Journey in December 2010 to present the government's achievements before the Assembly Elections.
In April 2010, he commenced the Confidence Journey, securing an impressive victory for JD(U) with 115 seats in Bihar. Subsequently, he embarked on a Service Journey in 2011 and the Right Movement for special status for Bihar in 2012. In 2014, amidst setbacks during the general elections, he launched a Resolve Journey but JD(U) managed only two seats. Nevertheless, he resumed his Bihar tours before the 2015 Assembly Elections.
After overcoming the general election's challenges, CM Kumar initiated the Communication Journey in November, reaching every district. With the inception of the Grand Alliance Government in 2015, Nitish introduced the Seven Resolves policy and toured the state with the Resolve Journey in 2016. He followed it up with the Review Journey in 2017, the Water Life Greening Journey in 2019, the Social Reform Journey in 2021, and the Solution Journey in 2023. Now, before the Bihar Assembly elections, he embarks on the 'Progress Journey'.
