The countdown to India's forthcoming national elections has begun, setting the stage for a showdown. As the BJP tightens its grip on the southern stronghold, the parties gear up for a political face-off.
News breaks that BJP, TDP headed by Chandrababu Naidu, and Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena have firmed up their decision to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections together. A consensus on a seat-sharing formula has been reached, with TDP to contest from 17 Lok Sabha constituencies, BJP from 6, and Jana Sena stepping into the electoral ring with 2 seats in Andhra Pradesh.
The Coalition Expands to State Assembly Elections
Beyond the Lok Sabha, the tripartite coalition has extended to State Assembly elections where TDP will contest from 144 seats, BJP from 10, and JSP from 21 seats.
TDP Appeals to the People
Chandrababu Naidu, sharing details of the seat-sharing arrangement, implores the people of Andhra Pradesh to shower their blessings upon this alliance, calling for a historic mandate to serve them.
Insiders also suggest that PM Modi may conduct a massive joint rally with TDP's Chandrababu Naidu in Guntur district on March 17th. However, official confirmation is yet to be announced.
A Time-Honored Bond Between TDP and BJP
It's noteworthy that BJP's alliance with TDP dates back to 1996, with the first coalition materializing then. Both parties fought the 2014 Lok Sabha and State Assembly elections together while JSP supported BJP. However, post-2014 disputes led TDP to part ways with NDA. The elections of 2019 saw the parties competing separately, where the YSR Congress handed TDP a decisive defeat.
