The encounter of Mangesh Yadav, an accused in the Sultanpur heist case, is a hot topic. UP police's senior officials held a press conference where they confirmed that Mangesh was present at the heist and had threatened people with a firearm. They also disclosed the names of other criminals who are still at large.
Currently, these suspects are on the run:
Furqan alias Gurjar, Arbaaz, Ankit Yadav alias Shekhar, Ajay alias DM Yadav, and Anuj Pratap Singh.
Eight criminals arrested so far:
On September 3, Sachin Singh, Pushpendra Singh, and Tribhuvan were caught in an encounter. All three suffered gunshot wounds in their legs. The main accused, Vipin Singh, surrendered and is in Raebareli jail due to an old case.
Then, on September 11, four more suspects were arrested: Durgesh Pratap Singh, Vinay Shukla, Arvind Yadav, and Vivek Singh. A significant portion of the loot was recovered from them.
What was recovered from whom?
According to the police, on September 3, they seized a black Super Splendor bike and 5 kg of silver jewelry from Pushpendra, Sachin, and Tribhuvan. Additionally, they found ₹12500 cash, a country-made pistol, and four cartridges from Sachin; ₹12000 cash, a country-made pistol, and cartridges from Tribhuvan, and ₹14000 cash and a country-made pistol with three cartridges from Pushpendra.
On September 11, Durgesh Singh, Vinay Shukla, Arvind Yadav, and Vivek Singh were arrested. Recovered items included a Bolero vehicle and jewelry from each individual. Specifically, Durgesh had 259 grams of gold jewelry, a pistol, and two cartridges; Vinay Shukla had 347 grams of gold jewelry, a pistol, and two cartridges; Arvind Yadav alias Fauji had 299 grams of gold jewelry, a pistol, and three cartridges; and Vivek Singh had 510 grams of gold jewelry, a pistol, and two cartridges.
In total, 2.25 kg of gold and 20 kg of silver were seized from the arrested suspects. The vehicle and weapons used in the crime were also confiscated. Bharat Ji Sarraf, the victim of the heist, expressed satisfaction with the police's efforts, stating that he has recovered his entire loot.
Mangesh Yadav was involved in the loot
Recently, UP Police released a video revealing the names of the criminals along with CCTV footage and photographs. The DGP stated that Ankit, Arbaaz, Mangesh Yadav, Anuj Pratap Singh, and Furqan invaded the shop and executed the robbery. Anuj Pratap Singh, wearing a white cloth and shirt, was the first to enter. Mangesh, who was shot dead in the encounter, wore a helmet and entered third, brandishing a pistol and issuing threats.
Furthermore, he threatened to shoot anyone who moved. The video shows Furqan, wearing a black helmet and carrying a pistol, and Ankit Yadav filling a bag with the loot.
Addressing questions on the encounter of Mangesh Yadav, UP DGP Prashant Kumar stated that the police department operates impartially and is guided by evidence rather than bias. The evidence shows clear involvement of the identified suspects in the Sultanpur robbery. The DGP showed CCTV footage proving that Mangesh was one of the robbers inside the shop.
