In a shocking incident, District Judge S.M. Chandgade of Thane district's Kalyan has sentenced 33-year-old Rahul Raju Jadhav to 20 years of imprisonment for the heinous crime of raping a minor. The court also imposed a fine of 1000 rupees on him. This conviction is underlined by the provisions of the POCSO Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
This distressing case surfaced in September 2019 when the victim's family noticed a sudden change in her behavior. Growing suspicious, they consulted a doctor and were confronted with the shocking revelation that she was seven months pregnant.
Upon probing, the traumatized minor revealed the horrific truth of being sexually assaulted by Rahul Raju Jadhav. Following this confession, the family filed a report at the Manpada Police Station in Kalyan, which swiftly led to the arrest of the perpetrator.
With solid evidence and witnesses presented in court, Judge Chandgade found Jadhav guilty. Emphasizing the gravity of the crime against a minor, the judge remarked on the necessity of the stringent punishment.
Following the verdict, the police and family members hailed the judgment as justice served. Jadhav will now serve his sentence in prison for 20 years, marking a significant stand against crimes of such nature.
This case serves as a somber reminder of the responsibilities society holds towards safeguarding its minors against such predatory actions and reinforcing a legal environment that delivers justice.
