Mamata Banerjee Reflects: 'Yesterday Felt Like a Rebirth...'

Following a mega march against ED raids, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee proclaimed the day felt like a rebirth, as she led thousands against actions at I-PAC office and director Pratik Jain's residence, experiencing a sense of rebellion in Kolkata.

On Friday, West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee spearheaded a massive march against the Enforcement Directorate (ED). She expressed, 'Yesterday was akin to a rebirth for me.' In response to ED's Thursday raids at the political consultancy firm I-PAC's office and its director Pratik Jain's residence, thousands thronged Kolkata's streets under Mamata's leadership, joining the protest march.

'I've Battled Countless Times in My Life'

Mamata Banerjee shared, 'We covered a distance of 10.5 kilometers in no time. I walk approximately 30,000 steps daily. It felt like a rebellion had erupted on Kolkata's streets.' The Chief Minister added, 'I have fought numerous battles throughout my life. Once in the Hazra area, I narrowly escaped death.'

She recounted how CPM goons had hounded her with iron chains, attacked her head with sticks, causing bleeding while she endured persistent beating. Mamata remarked, 'I sustained several fractures but have continually triumphed through my work.'

'Yesterday Was a Rebirth for Me'

Mamata asserted, 'Whenever I am assaulted, it invigorates me with renewed energy. Just like yesterday, that day was truly a rebirth for me.' She highlighted those maligning and misrepresenting TMC don’t truly comprehend the dedication of its members, who are ready to embrace even the gallows with a smile.

Meanwhile, the hearing of the ED vs. Trinamool Congress case was deferred in the Calcutta High Court due to excessive crowd and commotion, with the next session scheduled for January 14. While ED purportedly accused Mamata Banerjee of 'misconduct' during the raids, Trinamool Congress has dubbed these actions arbitrary and unlawful.

'From Where Do Rohingyas Enter India'

The Chief Minister also directed a fierce critique at BJP, accusing it of disparaging Bengali speakers as Bangladeshi. Mamata questioned where the Rohingyas, previously mentioned, originated and how they are entering India. Furthermore, she accused the central government of commandeering the state's funds under the guise of taxes and lamented the withholding of all central funds entitled to West Bengal.
