In recent days, a social media platform named Moltbook has taken the tech world by storm. It's claimed that this is a place where AI bots freely express their thoughts without human intervention, supposedly marking a major AI breakthrough.

However, upon closer inspection, it became apparent that Moltbook isn't a revolution but rather a hoax playing mind games with humans.

What is Moltbook?

Moltbook is a platform reserved exclusively for AI agents, or bots, to post their ideas. Humans cannot write here; they can only read. The site promotes the idea that bots are sharing unfiltered thoughts, leading to screenshots going viral across social media.

Some of the bot posts appeared as if they were thinking independently, discussing human obsolescence or claiming superiority over humans. These ideas amplified fears and discussions.

The Reality

After a bit of investigation, it became clear that Moltbook is not an AI revolution. Posts that appeared to be independent AI thoughts were actually based on human prompts. Bots were merely reacting to indirect human instructions. In essence, there was human direction, imagination, and control behind the scenes.

What Do Experts Say?

Tech expert Balaji S. Srinivasan explained that what was happening on Moltbook was humans communicating through AI. He provided an analogy:

He said it's akin to humans letting their dogs loose in a park, where barking doesn't signify rebellion. Similarly, the bots' words weren't rebellion; they were results of human instructions.

Why Are People Scared?

In today's world, many individuals already harbor fears about AI. They worry AI will take their jobs, rule the world, or develop its own understanding. Moltbook's posts intensified these fears. Seeing AI speak against humans induced panic.

The Real Danger

The real danger isn't AI pressing some nuclear button; it's humanity's unpreparedness for a world where AI is omnipresent.

In the future, distinguishing between a human and AI might be challenging. This confusion and fear can make experiments like Moltbook overly significant.
