Sources reveal this action was driven by suspicions of tax evasion. The department received confidential information regarding illicit goods supply and internal billing discrepancies leading to tax evasion. Based on this intelligence, raids were conducted at all these premises simultaneously. It is reported that the firm, Pt. Chandrawali and Sons, was also scrutinized, possibly yielding crucial documents related to tax evasion.
The IT Department teams inspected documents within homes, factories, warehouses, and cold storage premises during the raids. Income Tax Department vehicles were seen stationed outside the businesses targeted in Kanpur and Kannauj, creating a buzz in the business community. Officials categorized this as a joint operation, revealing interconnections among traders through business transactions.
The raids sparked a sensation among traders in Kanpur and Kannauj, with searches underway in numerous entrepreneur properties where significant amounts of unaccounted wealth, property documents, and digital transaction records may be discovered. Officials assert that only after thorough investigations will the actual scale of tax evasion and the traders involved be discerned. Currently, IT teams are deeply engaged in analyzing documents and probing financial irregularities.
