Judicial Commission's Firm Stance in Sambhal Violence Case, Summons SP MP Ziaur Rahman Barq

In a recent move, the judicial commission investigating the November 2024 violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, has issued a strong summons to Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ziaur Rahman Barq, demanding his presence to record his statement on April 16. The violent incidents from last year claimed multiple lives and had a significant impact across the state.

Notice Issued to SP Legislator's Son

Alongside the notice to MP Ziaur Rahman Barq, the commission has instructed him to cooperate with the ongoing probe. Furthermore, a similar notice has been dispatched to the son of senior SP legislator Iqbal Mahmood, calling for his appearance on April 16 as well.

SIT Conducts Lengthy Interrogation

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), on Tuesday, questioned Ziaur Rahman Barq for three hours. There are looming threats of arrest as the SIT aims to establish any links between Barq and the violence. Allegations have surfaced regarding his involvement in the unrest at the Jamia Masjid in Sambhal.

SP MP Entangled in Multiple Allegations

In the past, cases related to electricity theft were lodged against Ziaur Rahman Barq in his private residence in Sambhal. Moreover, charges of constructing a multi-story building without a sanctioned plan and land encroachment are also against him. Although his arrest has not occurred, the atmosphere around him suggests an impending significant action.
