In a surprising turn of events, the court has taken suo motu cognizance in the Bareilly brawl case from 2010, where police and administrative officers failed to act. The Bareilly court deemed Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan the chief mastermind of the riots and summoned him on March 11th.
Concurrently, the court has also sharply criticized the Bareilly officials for their inaction. Sessions Judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar lavishly praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, proclaiming that only a religious person is fit to be a just ruler.
A Report Sent to CM Yogi
The court has ordered the dispatch of the order's copy to Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Inspector Subhash Yadav recorded his statement on March 5th concerning the episode. The court underscored, 'Our city-states will endure hardships until we have philosopher kings. The declarations make it clear that Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan from the prominent Ala Hazrat family of Bareilly was indeed the main mastermind behind the riots. Revered in the Muslim community, he holds a significant religious stature and chairs the IMC, wielding considerable influence.'
The court observed, 'When a religious person ascends to power, the outcomes are beneficial, as philosophized by Plato in his treatise, The Republic. Today, justice signifies law, whereas, in Plato's era, it was synonymous with religion. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the head priest of the revered Gorakhnath Temple, is proving this ideology true.'
Officials Worked on Power's Signals
The court stated that instead of acting legally, officials worked on political signals, aiding Bareilly riot's chief mastermind Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan. In his ruling, Sessions Judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar quoted various judicial precedents, asserting that the court is not merely a 'silent empire', hence, it's applicable to summon Maulana Tauqeer under various penal sections for contributing to the public turmoil.
The court has summoned Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan on March 11th and instructed to send a copy of the order to the Chief Minister, indicating that former officials had collaborated with the mastermind of the riots.
Tauqeer Raza Tried to Incite Riots - Court
Judge Diwakar revealed that if it weren't for Yogi as CM, Tauqeer Raza might have caused riots earlier as well. He expressed concern that Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan previously attempted to provoke riots in Bareilly city. He spoke disrespectfully against India's Prime Minister Modi, which was overheard by my wife, who commented that such a person is capable of doing anything.
Court Explains Reasons for Riots
The court pointed out that one particular reason for riots in India is the political appeasement of certain religious groups, which boosts their morale to such an extent that they believe they will remain unscathed even in the event of a riot. Justice in India's judicial system can take years, and this case has been pending since 2010.
The 2010 Case
The incident dates back to 2010. Crime number 519 was registered at the Prem Nagar police station, revolving around a dispute over the Anjuman. Tauqeer Raza's speech following this dispute led to the ignition of the riots. Several shops were torched, and public property was damaged during the mayhem.
