Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had an engaging discussion with Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari concerning the roads in Wayanad. The dialogue originated during the Lok Sabha's Question Hour and transitioned to a private meeting in Parliament's chambers, where both leaders candidly discussed developmental projects.
During the ongoing winter session of Parliament, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took the initiative to raise concerns about road infrastructure in her constituency, Wayanad, in a meeting with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. She pointed out the recurrent landslides on the Chandigarh-Shimla highway and requested a meeting with the minister to discuss these critical issues.
Appointment Since June
She expressed her worries over the safety walls on the Chandigarh-Shimla highway, noting that in many places, the retaining walls are so low that landslides continue unabated. She implored, 'Please address this.' She also mentioned her long-standing request for a meeting since June: 'I have been seeking an appointment to discuss my constituency since June.' Alongside, she sought Gadkari's time for a meeting.
'Appointment Not Needed...'
Responding promptly, Nitin Gadkari stated in the House, 'My door is always open. No appointment is needed.' He invited her to meet after Question Hour concluded.
Soon after the session ended, Priyanka Gandhi visited Gadkari's chamber within the Parliament building. During their meeting, they thoroughly examined six road projects across Wayanad and Kerala. Gadkari clarified that while some projects fall under the state's jurisdiction, he will ensure the remaining proposals are scrutinized diligently.
