Israel launched airstrikes on military bases, including those in Iran's capital Tehran and surrounding cities, early Saturday morning. The Israeli military confirmed these attacks, stating they were in response to continuous assaults from Iran over several months. Iranian media also reported these strikes, with local outlets saying that Israel targeted multiple military sites near Tehran.
IDF Confirms Strikes
In a post on social media platform X, the IDF stated, 'In response to the continuous attacks by the Iranian regime against the State of Israel, the Israel Defense Forces is conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran. Iran and its proxies have been attacking Israel across seven fronts since October 7, including direct attacks from Iranian soil. Like every other sovereign nation in the world, Israel has the right and duty to respond. We will do whatever is necessary to protect Israel and its people.'
The IDF also shared an image featuring General Staff Chief Herzi Halevi and Israeli Air Force Commanding Officer General Tomer Bar, overseeing the offensive against Iran from the underground command center at Camp Rabin (The Kirya).
Meanwhile, Syria's official news agency SANA reported that Israel launched attacks on several military sites in southern and central Syria around 2 AM, coinciding with the start of Iran operations. Some Israeli missiles were allegedly intercepted, and authorities are assessing the damage.

Iran Fired Hundreds of Missiles at Israel
It's important to note that following the elimination of Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah and Israel's ground operations in southern Lebanon, Iran fired approximately 180 missiles at Israel earlier this month. Iran claimed it would continue its attacks on Israel, while Israel stated it would respond in due course.
In April this year, Iran also fired missiles at Israel, with 100 ballistic and 30 cruise missiles launched in April. However, the recent attack by Iran on Israel was more intense than previous ones.
