A significant accident has occurred in Baraut, Baghpat district. During a Jain community event here, a wooden structure tragically collapsed, trapping a large number of devotees beneath it. So far, 5 individuals have lost their lives, and approximately 50 are injured. Panic ensued as the scene turned chaotic, with frantic efforts to transport the injured on e-rickshaws and carts. Sirens of ambulances echoed shortly thereafter, amplifying the cries and commotion.
The administration has now taken control of the situation. Officials assert that matters are under control. The event, which has been held for decades, was permitted. Investigation will reveal why the wooden structure collapsed.

According to available information, the accident occurred during the Lord Adinath's Nirvana Laddu festival at Jain College Field, Baraut. Due to the immediate unavailability of ambulances, many people resorted to using e-rickshaws and carts to transport the injured from the accident site. During this time, numerous women were seen weeping inconsolably, with relatives offering comfort. Upon receiving news of the incident, the DM, SP, and various officials rushed to the scene.

Five deaths have been confirmed in the Baghpat tragedy while 40 individuals sustained injuries. Out of them, 20 have been discharged after receiving primary treatment, while the rest continue to receive care. DM Asmita Lal stated that the event has been a tradition for 30 years. There are 40 injured, and 5 fatalities. The injured have been taken to hospital. The event was a function of the Jain community, and the situation is under control.
On another note, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the Baghpat incident. He has instructed officials to promptly reach the site and expedite relief efforts. The Chief Minister has directed suitable medical treatment for the injured and expressed wishes for their swift recovery.
