The Indian Army's Aviation Corps is still waiting for their Apache AH-64E attack helicopters. A fleet of six helicopters was expected from the US, but they have yet to arrive. These helicopters were to be delivered in batches of three in May-June, but the first batch has been delayed by three months.

India signed an $800 million deal with the US in February 2020 for six Apache helicopters. The first batch has already been delayed by three months due to technical reasons cited by the US. The Defense Ministry and other sources have reported that no new delivery date has been confirmed yet.

The first Apache squadron was supposed to be formed in May this year at Nagtalao Jodhpur. The aim was to enhance security along the western border, but the plans have been disrupted. These new helicopters are known for their strength, firepower, range, capability, and advanced targeting systems.

The Indian Air Force already has 22 Apache helicopters from a separate deal made in 2015. However, the army needed these specific helicopters to boost the strength of its Aviation Corps.
