Dr. Anil Menon, hailing from Indian roots, has successfully finished a two-year astronaut training at NASA. He underwent training to become an astronaut.
In December 2021, NASA selected 10 astronaut trainees for their lunar mission, including Dr. Menon. Now that his training is complete, he might partake in future moon missions by NASA. If so, he will be the first person of Indian heritage to visit the moon.
Dr. Menon has had an illustrious career in medicine and aerospace engineering. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, his parents are of Indian and Ukrainian descent.
Associated with several critical missions
After graduating in Neurobiology from Harvard University in 1999, where he studied Hutchinson's Disease, he pursued medicine at Stanford Medical School in 2004 and later mechanical engineering at Stanford University. Anil worked as a flight surgeon for numerous NASA missions, beginning in 2014. Additionally, he was involved in the Soyuz missions.
Moreover, Dr. Menon has served as a crew flight surgeon for many missions to the International Space Station and was a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force.
Before joining NASA, Dr. Menon joined Elon Musk's SpaceX in 2018 as their first flight surgeon, contributing to SpaceX's inaugural human flight's medical program.

According to NASA's website, Dr. Menon aided victims post the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, treated people in the 2015 Nepal earthquake, and assisted in the 2011 Reno Air Show accident.
Dr. Menon has completed over 100 F-15 fighter jet sorties and has rescued over 100 individuals in critical conditions via helicopter.
Dr. Menon married Anna Menon, and they have two children. His wife Anna is employed at SpaceX. Dr. Menon also boasts over a thousand hours of flight experience as a pilot.
