The debate surrounding the mother tongue in India has been intense recently, fueling political discourse. While North Indians consider Hindi their native language, people from South India oppose its imposition. Amidst this heated atmosphere, actor Kamal Haasan has voiced his opinion, condemning the imposition of Hindi as ignorance.

Specifically, Kamal Haasan retweeted a post by Kerala MP John Brittas, writing in Tamil, "Mother tongue is our birthright. Learning and using other languages is a matter of personal choice. This has been the voice of South India for 75 years. Imposing Hindi for its development is foolish. Imposition will be met with resistance."

In another tweet, he continued, "Kerala exemplifies this, serving as a proverb for half the country. Warning: Pongal is approaching. Oh! Apologies for your understanding, 'Stay Alert'."

On Sunday, he tweeted a video of his parliamentary speech, cautioning that the plan to impose Hindi could ruin the nation. He questioned if Sundar Pichai would be leading Google had he taken IIT exams in Hindi.
