In response to the current regional tensions, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has temporarily shifted all schooling and university classes online. This decision comes amidst heightened tensions and security concerns in the Middle East, prioritizing the safety of students and educators. The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the UAE have announced that from Monday, March 2, 2026, to Wednesday, March 4, 2026, all public and private schools, as well as universities, will hold classes through distance learning (online). This mandate applies to students, teachers, and administrative staff alike.

Constant Monitoring of Situation

The government stated that this decision is purely precautionary to safeguard students and staff from any unforeseen situations, ensuring uninterrupted education. Authorities have clarified that the situation will be closely monitored throughout the week. Should conditions stabilize, in-person classes may resume, but with any increase in tension or risk, the online schooling period might be extended. Thus, the UAE government has balanced security with education in this temporary yet necessary decision to prevent any potential threats.
