On a tragic night in Mumbai's Bandra, NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader Baba Siddique was fatally shot. The assailants opened fire in the Bandra East area, striking Siddique in the chest and abdomen. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in critical condition, where doctors sadly pronounced him dead.
Authorities moved quickly, apprehending two suspects as the search continues for a third. Maharashtra's Chief Minister Eknath Shinde pledged stringent action against those responsible. With two suspects in custody, originating from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana respectively, the pursuit for the third is ongoing. He ensured the law is upheld. He remarked, 'The shooting incident involving Baba Siddique is highly distressing and unfortunate. I have communicated with both the Commissioner and medical personnel on this matter. Two of the individuals captured hail from UP and Haryana, with one suspect still evading capture. I have directed the police to ensure the sanctity of law enforcement remains intact, urging the strictest measures.'
Police to Explore Contract Killing Angle
Authorities have also disseminated images of the suspects, apprehended with fully loaded magazines. Following Baba Siddique's assassination, Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has canceled his planned engagements. Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis reached the hospital promptly upon receiving the news. The police have confirmed they will be investigating potential contract killing motives.
