Digvijaya Singh, a Congress member of the Rajya Sabha, commented on the broken seat allocated to Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on an Air India flight. Though he was on the same flight, Singh mentioned his own good seating experience.
Last Friday, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan boarded an Air India flight from Bhopal to New Delhi, only to find himself with a broken seat. In response, Chouhan was candid in his criticism of Air India's management.
In addressing this issue, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and Congress MP Digvijaya Singh said, "Coincidentally, I was on the same flight, but received a decent seat." He did acknowledge the mistake made by the private airline regarding the seat assigned to Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Singh highlighted that as per protocol, Union Ministers are allocated seats in the aircraft's first row. Thus, Air India should have assigned Chouhan a seat in that row.
The Government should present a detailed report on GIS
At the ongoing Global Investors Summit (GIS) in Bhopal, Digvijaya Singh took a jab at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), urging for transparency and detailed past records of similar events. The senior Congress leader insisted that the BJP government should disclose comprehensive records of all GIS organized in Madhya Pradesh since 2004, including the actual investments attracted and employment generated from such summits.
The sacred confluence's water could have been purified
Additionally, Singh proposed that the waters at the Mahakumbh site in Prayagraj could be periodically purified using chemicals. Citing laboratory test reports, he pointed out that the water quality at the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati, where millions have taken holy dips since January 13, does not meet the necessary purity standards.
Speaking with journalists in Indore, the former CM emphasized that the issue is now with the National Green Tribunal (NGT). He commented, "During the Mahakumbh, chemicals could have been used periodically to maintain the purity of the confluence's water. Given a budget allocation of 7,500 crores for the Mahakumbh, why was the purification of the water not prioritized? Ensuring the purity of the confluence should have been a focal point."
