Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, announced on Thursday the launch of the Chief Minister Women's Honor Scheme to provide women in Delhi with a monthly support of 1,000 rupees. He promised to increase this amount to 2,100 rupees after the elections. The scheme aims to enhance women's economic empowerment. However, Kejriwal clarified that since elections might be announced soon, the funds will be deposited in beneficiaries' accounts only after the elections.
This declaration comes as Delhi gears up for its February 2025 assembly elections, with the AAP attempting to secure a third consecutive term. Kejriwal stated that the Delhi Cabinet, under Chief Minister Atishi's leadership, has approved this plan, and women can start registering from Friday. He also announced that if the Aam Aadmi Party wins the elections, the scheme would increase the payment to 2,100 rupees per month.
Delhi Cabinet has notified the Women's Honor Scheme. Women over the age of 18 will benefit from this plan, provided they are registered voters in Delhi by December 12, 2024.
