How Nehru Stopped the Caste Census in India: CM Yadav Criticizes Congress

CM Mohan Yadav in Indore stressed that the state Congress president should consider his own matters before making baseless claims and should know his party's history. Nehru was the one who initially stopped the caste census in India. Though Congress was in power for 55 years, it did not contribute to the progress of OBCs.

Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, launched a scathing attack on the Congress. He asserted that despite being in power for long periods, the Congress did nothing for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and accused first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru of halting the caste census. Yadav’s remarks were a response to statements by Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jeetu Patwari, who accused the BJP government of failing to implement 27% OBC reservations in educational institutions and government jobs in Madhya Pradesh.

"Before resorting to false accusations, the State Congress President should reflect on his own issues and be mindful of his party's history. It was Prime Minister Nehru who halted the caste census. Despite Congress's 55-year reign, it did not contribute to the upliftment of OBCs," said CM Mohan Yadav in Indore.

The BJP's key OBC leader, Yadav, pointed out that the nation's Prime Minister is from the OBC category. He claimed, "The BJP has given Madhya Pradesh four OBC Chief Ministers, whereas Congress has not given even one from this category."

CM Yadav revisited the mysterious death of Congress leader Sarla Mishra in 1997 and criticized the then-opposition party Congress on law and order issues. The Bhopal district court recently rejected the police's 'closure report' in the Sarla Mishra case and ordered a re-investigation.

Chief Minister Yadav alleged, "It is well known that not only here in Madhya Pradesh but across the country, Congress members have been involved in atrocities against women."

Regarding Rahul Gandhi’s trip to the USA, Yadav remarked that speaking against India during his foreign visits has become a habit for the Congress leader, which embarrasses the nation. He expressed, "I hope this time during his foreign tour, Gandhi stays on the right path. I pray to Lord Mahakal to grant him good sense."

Moreover, when asked about BJP MP Nishikant Dubey's controversial remarks on the judiciary, the Chief Minister avoided commenting, stating that Party President JP Nadda had already clarified the party's stance, dismissing Dubey's comments as a personal opinion. The BJP President stated that the party respects the judiciary as an integral part of democracy.
