Heightened threats from the Iran-backed Hezbollah have prompted the Israeli military to carry out rapid airstrikes on Lebanon this Sunday. In retaliation, Hezbollah launched a staggering 320 drones towards Israel, targeting 11 military bases. Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack, stating it was in response to the assassination of their military commander, Fuad Shukr.

Hezbollah conducted numerous attacks in northern Israel, announcing their intention to retaliate against Israel’s actions. In response, Israel carried out over 100 airstrikes on various targets in Lebanon and declared a 48-hour emergency. Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant closely monitored the situation from Tel Aviv.

U.S. Affirms Israel's Right to Self-Defense

According to Reuters, Hezbollah announced that they had attacked specific military targets, including Israel's Iron Dome platforms. However, they mentioned that a full-scale response would take some time. Following the preemptive strikes by the IDF, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant communicated with his U.S. counterpart, Lloyd Austin.
