In Saharanpur, an otherwise joyful wedding ceremony turned into a scandal when the groom's girlfriend arrived all the way from Kerala, vehemently protesting the union. The girlfriend claimed he had promised to marry her but was secretly wedding someone else.
Here's the complete story...
The drama unfolded on Tuesday evening. Dilbahar, the groom from Sherpur, had arrived at Gagalhedi for the marriage ceremony when a young woman from Kerala, claiming to be his girlfriend, demanded to halt the wedding. Her protests escalated into a scene, asserting that her seven-year relationship with Dilbahar included a promise of marriage.
The woman revealed that their paths crossed in Kerala where Dilbahar was in the furniture trade. She accused him of deceiving her and proceeding with another marriage. To substantiate her claims, she presented photographs evidencing their relationship. Additionally, she recounted lodging a complaint against Dilbahar with the Kerala police on 30th November.
Wedding Cancelled, Groom Taken to Police Station
Given the gravity of the situation, the bride's family handed over Dilbahar and his father Julfan to the police immediately, and the wedding guests were sent back. Police began interrogating the groom and his father. The girlfriend accused Dilbahar of defrauding several women with false marriage promises and claimed he forced her into aborting her pregnancy, only to abandon her later.
Initially, Dilbahar denied the allegations but later confessed to the relationship under police interrogation. Meanwhile, discussions commenced between both families concerning the wedding expenses. Following this scandal, the bride's family decided to call off the wedding. The girlfriend stated that her goal was to reveal Dilbahar's deceit and ensure he faces consequences. Late-night negotiations were still ongoing among the three parties at the police station.
SP City Abhimanyu Manglik informed that currently, no formal complaint had been filed by any party. If any is received, it will be thoroughly investigated, and lawful actions will be taken.
