Kejriwal to remain under ED's remand until March 28

The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi pronounced its decision on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's remand. The court has granted ED custody of Kejriwal till March 28. Speaking with the media inside the courtroom, Kejriwal vowed not to resign from the Chief Minister's role, declaring, 'Whether I'm inside or out, that's where the government will function from.' He believed challenges would come, but opined that is what the people of Delhi desire.

Kejriwal questions objectives of interrogation

Post-arrest, Kejriwal acknowledged the professional and dignified conduct of ED officials, but doubted the authenticity of the interrogation, claiming no fear and readiness to face any requirements. He emphasized that public support matters more than the ED's intentions.

In response to allegations of being the kingpin behind the liquor scam, Kejriwal stated, 'The policy went through multiple levels of approval. The Law Secretary, Finance Secretary, and even the Lieutenant Governor had signed off. It's puzzling why only Kejriwal and Sisodia are in the dock.'

ED's serious allegations

Last Thursday evening, ED officials unexpectedly visited Kejriwal with the 10th summons and after nearly two hours of questions took him into custody in the liquor policy case. Today, he was presented before the Rouse Avenue Court, which remanded him to seven days in ED's custody. The ED's remand copy implicates Kejriwal's role in concocting the liquor policy, its implementation, irregularities, and using crime proceeds. The agency alleges Kejriwal to be the chief conspirator of the Delhi liquor policy scam, colluding with Delhi government ministers, AAP leaders, and others, and accused him of accepting bribes from liquor businesses in exchange for policy benefits.
