In Bengaluru, AI engineer Atul Subhash, accusing his wife and in-laws of harassment and flaws in the justice system, took his life. He left behind a 23-page suicide note and a 90-minute video. On one page of this note, he wrote an emotional message for his four-year-old son, stating, 'For you, my son, I could sacrifice myself a thousand times.'

Atul wrote, "When I first saw you, my boy, I thought I could die any day for you. Yet, it's tragic that I am ending my life because of you. I've now forgotten your face unless I see your photo from when you were a year old. What remains is pain; you are just a tool, used to extract more from me."

He further expressed, "This will hurt you, but the truth is, it feels like you were a mistake on my part. It's heartbreaking that a shameless system can turn a child into a burden. I've met many fathers separated from their families, and most share these feelings honestly. Some emotional parents, desperate to be part of their child's life, emotionally die inside every day, while the system desires as much from every father. I am not going down that road."

Nikita Singhania's family, Atul Subhash's wife's family, fled, spotted his mother-in-law under the cloak of night.

For his son, Atul wrote, "As long as I live and earn, they will exploit your grandparents and me by using you as a pawn. I will not let them disturb my father, mother, and brother without reason."

Atul continued in the note, "I could sacrifice 100 sons like you for my father and myself a thousand times for you. However, I'll never be the cause of my father's torment. I doubt you'll ever understand what being a father means, but I know it well."

'Open this envelope in 2038...' Atul Subhash left a special gift for his son’s 18th birthday.
Being a Father is a Fortune: Atul Subhash

Defining fatherhood, Atul wrote, "To be a father is a fortune. He is my pride. He embodies what I've always strived to become. He is who a son wants to challenge and pride upon. The father-son relationship can neither be articulated nor fully understood, yet explaining it now seems pointless. You will not know me. I wish I could be with you. So much I wanted to give, what I understood and learned."

'Atul Subhash vented his frustration, my daughter couldn't have prompted suicide...', remarked the AI engineer's mother-in-law.
Suicide on December 9th in Bengaluru

On December 9th, Atul Subhash hanged himself from the ceiling fan in his bedroom in Bengaluru. The t-shirt he wore carried the phrase 'Justice Is Due.' Earlier, in a 90-minutes video and 24-page letter, Atul held his wife, in-laws, and the judicial system responsible for his suicide. Post-marriage, his wife had lodged nine cases against him, including dowry harassment, murder of father-in-law, and unnatural sexual offenses. Atul accused them of demanding INR 30 million to settle these cases.
