The Nepal government has decided to ban social media platforms that have not registered with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. This decision came today, Thursday, during a meeting led by the Communications Minister, Prithvi Subba Gurung. The platforms had been given a seven-day deadline for registration, which has now expired.

The Nepal government has banned all social media platforms that did not comply with the seven-day registration deadline.

The government has instructed Nepal Telecom to deactivate these platforms. This decision will impact Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube, Google, and other sites in Nepal.

Following the government's directive, only TikTok, Viber, Nimbuzz, Witk, and Popo Live have registered with the Company Registrar Office. Following this ban, only these platforms can operate legally in Nepal.
