In a fresh attack on AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal over the Yamuna's polluted water, Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini challenged him on Friday to drink the river's water at Wazirabad Point. He accused Kejriwal of indulging in cheap politics to hide his failures. Saini remarked, 'For the last decade, Kejriwal has compelled Delhi's citizens to drink contaminated water.'
On Friday at the Yamuna Ghat in Wazirabad, Delhi, Saini presented samples of water from both Haryana and Delhi to reporters, highlighting significant differences between them. Saini recounted that on Wednesday, he drank water supplied by Haryana at Palla Ghat at the Haryana-Delhi border, while water released by Delhi wasn't potable.
He criticized Kejriwal for talking about Yamuna's cleansing but doing nothing for 10 years. The BJP leader accused him of indulging in dirty politics for political gain, failing to clean drains, sewers, or sewage treatment plants, and now blaming others for his shortcomings.
Saini asserted that Yamuna is sacred, yet the run-off water entering it in the national capital remains untreated by the AAP government.
In response to Kejriwal's January 27th accusation that Haryana's BJP government poisoned the water supplied to Delhi through the Yamuna, which he claimed was to create chaos and blame AAP for any resulting fatalities, the Election Commission issued a notice to the AAP supremo. Kejriwal later responded to the notice.
Saini stated, 'Haryana supplies clean water to Delhi through the Yamuna, but due to Delhi's mismanagement, it becomes contaminated.'
He alleged that the water quality deteriorates significantly by the time it reaches Faridabad, posing severe health risks.
In a post on X, Saini in Hindi said, 'Kejriwal wants mass murder in Faridabad. I challenge Kejriwal to drink the Yamuna's water at Wazirabad. I drank Yamuna's water near Palla Village in Sonepat on Wednesday. However, it turns completely toxic by the time it reaches Delhi's Wazirabad.'
